Is there ever a challenge in life you shouldnt take? Is there ever a time when a challenge arises in your life and you dont go for it and in the aftermath of it all, you dont think, DAMN, I should have gone for it, I totally could have done it.
Im at a spot in my life where I am at that fork in the road. Go for it... risk a ton... or dont and wait to see if something better comes along. There is the one side that says HIGH RISK, HIGH REWARD!!! The other says, I have taken a ton of risks in my life, and it might be a good idea to wait for the perfect opportunity. However, the "Perfect" opportunity will never come along. Nothing will ever be perfect. But with a brand new baby, high risk is extra risky.
I am literally pissing myself off, trying to figure this out. I need some help. Anyone got any great advice. I will try to spell it out in the following three scenarios and you help me decide on a scenario without calling out anything specific.
1. Next step promotion in a currently struggling environment. Lots to fix here. Good pay increase, part of my current 5 year plan. Would require a move of my family, not a far move, but another move none the less. High Risk
2. Take a completely new opportunity. Same base pay with a commission structure. Excellent hours, Monday through Friday, morning to early evening. Completely different from my 5 year plan. Would require me to reevaluate my plan. No move required. High Risk
3. Stay put, and wait for something else. High Risk... My current performance is very good, striking now on an opportunity to promote would be smart. Waiting could lead to nothing better or lower performance and my candidacy may not look as good...
HELP!!!

Selfishness
This one is all about me... sorry people... Its my blog and therefore its my list... Feel free to add to the list, come up with your own list, but this is just me thinking out loud...
I want:
another degree... maybe architecture or...
an amazing vacation with my family... maybe to the beach, Italy, Boston, New York, the lake or...
a new car... maybe a new Camaro, another XB, a new truck, or...
a work out routine... maybe P90X, a gym membership, or...
summer time... nothing to add here, just really want that warm weather...
a new play list with new music... new found tracks from Petty, or...
more time...
This is my list. I didnt want to get greedy with all the things I want.

Music
aint it funny how a melody
brings back a memory
takes you to another place and time
completely changes your state of mind
... Clint Black, State of Mind
The last few nights I have been getting off of work and getting home just in time to put Finley to bed and tuck Corey in so she can get some rest as well. This leaves me with lots of evening time to myself...
Lately I have found myself listening to some iTunes and really putting the Genius button to work. A scary event happened to me on my way home from work the other night. Since college, I have been a huge listener to Sports Talk radio, living in Springfield for all those years I had a great station of ESPN 1400 to get my fill of Sports Talk. Now being back in KC, I have struggled to find that ESPN station that pumps out the great sports talk guys like Tony Kornheiser, Dan Patrick, Ron Dibble, Colin Cowherd, Scott Van Pelt, etc. So the scary event, I decided I was at my limit of girls high school basketball on Sports radio 810, yeah you read that correctly, girls high school basketball on a major radio station... WOW!!! and I digress, Anyway, I flipped on the fm stations and just started looking for a good song. I hit about 10 stations before I finally landed on 101.1 KCFX the FOX! No biggie right, they were pumping out some Tom Petty - Running Down a Dream, and I was tapping the steering wheel. As that song was finishing up they ran into their little FOX intro and station identification and its followed up with "101 the Fox, your choice in KC for the Classic Hits" and KABOOOM like a ton of bricks... Damn Im old. I had passed all the main stream stations with all sorts of music that I literally said out loud... THATS NOT MUSIC... and kept station hopping until I landed on the CLASSIC HITS station. OUCH!!! It actually hurt. Im 31... wow... my music tastes are aged... I dont know if its a bad thing, but it was a shocking realization. The only thing missing was me saying "What are these kids listening to today" and then stopping at the local pharmacy for my depends, glacoma medicine, and denture cream.
This isnt to say that I dont like an enjoy some of today's great music, but I am definitely in a new category when flipping through the stations. I guess I should feel some enjoyment in the fact that the music I really enjoy is considered CLASSIC. Tom Petty is ultimate, Bruce Springsteen is the BOSS, The Cars are bad ass, Metallica ROCKS and I could go on and on. I do enjoy tons more recent music, such as, John Mayer, Counting Crowes, Eminem, JayZ, Notorious BIG, Jack Johnson, but even those artists are older. JayZ has retired something like 3 times now, Biggie Smalls isnt even alive anymore, and Eminem isnt really relevant anymore... I keep up with the really new stuff, but more through yahoo and the stupid stuff they are doing in the media. Lady Gaga is a Madonna redo, she is all about the shock factor and correct me if Im wrong, but Madonna rocked that already. I have also heard some redos lately... Five Finger Death Punch and their remake of Bad Company... not a bad redo, but it just made me go out and download the original.
Well this has really gotten lengthy at this point. The original point of this venture back into the Blogging realm was just to reiterate the fact that I feel old. Music can take you to a specific place in time, fill your mind with tons of emotions, change your mood, and tonight it made me feel old. So I reopened the Blog and rocked to some Tom Petty while getting my thoughts out...
Favorites of Mine:
Tom Petty, Metallica, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Beastie Boys, John Mayer, The Cars, Journey...many many more...
Feel free to add to the list of awesomeness...
